Kenya faced tough criticism for not executing the arrest warrant against President Al Bashir who is indicted by the ICC on charges of genocide and war crimes in Darfur. Sudan's President arrived in the capital Khartoum on Friday following his visit to Kenya to witness the signing of Kenya's new constitution.
The ICC stated in a press release that the Republic of Kenya had a clear obligation to cooperate with the ICC to execute the warrant and that since it signed the Rome Statute; it is obliged to arrest Al Bashir.
The ICC added that it lodged a complaint against Kenya to the UN Security Council and members who signed the Statute in order to take any measure they deem necessary.
