The Minister of Agriculture in the Federal Government of Sudan, Abdallahalim Ismail Al-Mutaafi, has arrived in Western Equatoria State to discuss with the State authorities ways of boosting agricultural activities in the State.

A rare 3-day meeting of about thirty religious and community leaders as well as local government officials from the Southern Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Central Africa Republic, and Uganda has criticized the "lack of a coordinated and comprehensive strategy" to tackle the Lords Resistance Army (LRA). This came after the leaders met in Yambio town of the Western Equatoria State.

Juba, Sudan (Borglobe).... Reaction to the insecurity threats in Jonglei Sate, Western Equatoria and Bhar el Gazal States, yesterday provoked Lawrence Korbandy, an advocate from South Sudan Associated, to point out that National Congress Party and Khartoum Government in particular, is deeply engaged in fighting South Sudan by proxy wars, to endanger the up coming referendum.

 

He cited the chopper impounded last Month by the SPLM, as one clear example through which NCP backs up George Athor and the Uganda Lords Resistant Army in Western Equatoria and Bhar El Gazal.

 

“NCP if fighting the South by proxy war, the recent helicopter incident is a clear identification that they are against the Southern Government.” He stated

 

Northern Government does not want South Sudan to gain independence and be a democratic state. Because the North, is based on Islamic religion which in comparison is totally different from the South, Korbandy expalined.

 

He noted that, the Southern Government instead of speaking out the truth that the North is against freedom of Southerners, remains quite and admitant to whatever delays the NCP imposes on them especially with issues related to referendum.

The Lakes State High Court has sentenced the former commissioner of Yirol West County, Aeok Manyel Dhieu, to life imprisonment after being found guilty of ordering his bodyguard to kill one of his bodyguards, last year. Meanwhile, the commissioner's bodyguard who executed the order has been sentenced to ten years in imprisonment without bail.

More than a hundred tones of oil has leaked into the River Nile when a ship partially submerged on Sunday near Aswan town in the southern part of Egypt. Commissioners of Aswan, Oqsur and Qena have announced the maximum state of emergency to perceive any possible effects on drinking water and fish resulting from the oil spill.

Energy and water development Minister Kenneth Konga has dismissed reports that the country might experience a fuel shortage beginning this month end.

Mr. Konga told radio QFM in an interview that the country has adequate stocks of fuel at Indeni oil refinery in Ndola to last the country three months.

He says during the 40 days period Indeni oil refinery will be shut down for routine maintenance, the country will not be affected because there are enough stocks of fuel.

Mr. Konga has since assured the general public not to panic by what he terms as misleading reports of a looming fuel shortage in the country.

Zambia’s sole oil refinery, Indeni, is scheduled to close this month for routine maintenance.

The four-week closure will enable the replacement of old machinery at the state-owned refinery to make it more reliable.

The 23,750 barrels-a-day refinery is the main supplier of fuel to Zambia’s copper and cobalt mines on the Copperbelt and North Western provinces. - lusaka Times

The Governor of Western Equatoria State, Joseph Bakosoro, has said that at least ten people were killed in the State by the Ugandan Lord's Resistance Army (LRA).

The Governor of South Darfur State, Abdel Hamid Musa Kasha, has issued a decree banning vehicles from packing around banks, trading places, and populated residential areas in the State.

The Upper Nile State Governor, Simon Kon Puoch, has affirmed that security situation in the State is improving after the peace negotiations between some people of Chulu Kingdom and the Sudan people Liberation Movement.
